The Romanian Tier-2 Federation RO-LCG was established in 2006 following the conclusion of the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG) collaboration's Memorandum of Understanding between CERN and ANCS.
Since 2007, an annual RO-LCG workshop or conference is alternatively held on topics related to the Grid and High Performance Computing support for Particle Physics and scientific research in general.

The RO-LCG 2011 Workshop is dedicated to the exchange of information between various scientific communities working in grid computing and HPC. The event gathers representatives of regional grid infrastructures, WLCG members and high-energy physicists, computer scientists, site administrators, grid and HPC users.

The main topics of the workshop are:

• National and international Grid collaborations
• Grid activities developed in the RO-LCG federation
• High Performance Computing infrastructure and applications

The workshop is organized by 'Horia Hulubei' National Institute for R&D in Physics and Nuclear Engineering (IFIN-HH), and supported by the National Agency for Scientific Research through the R&D project CONDEGRID - "National contribution to the development of the LCG computing grid for elementary particle physics".
